Gentlemen,and Ladies...
H E L P !!!!!

I purchased the 65 VW on a 64 pan with a 71 AE 1600 DP with a pair of Kadrons 40's....

The beast was acting like it had a clogged carb, so I disassembled and rebuilt them with a pair of carb kits. (First Time)

So here is the issue, I put everything back together, and I can get it running strong in the driveway, but if I take it out in the 'hood, I get hesitation, and jerking, if I open it up on the hiway, I can get through 3rd, and then 4th I loose power, and can only go about 50, running at about 3200RPMS, nothing more, can't get anymore out of it. I get home, and the lefty is flooded, spilling out of the top, worse is I have fuel coming out of my mufflers!! I was getting 6lbs of fuel pressure from the fuel pump, so I added an inline regulator to tune the pressure down to 1.5-2lbs. (I read somewhere on the net this was optimal for the Kadrons..) the right carb is fine, I read that these thing have a small bearing under the accelerator pump spray bar, but when I disassembled, there was nothing there.

there is also some type of brass plug in the bowel on the left side, that looks like you have to thread a screw into it, and then pull it out, or something???\

Don't want to jack it up, so I have not farted around with that yet, but I think the is another check valve in there too??

Thanks for everything!!!

sounds like the float is stuck you may want to turn your fuel off so you dont wake up with an empty fuel tank in the morning

I have checked the float, and I can't see it hanging anywhere with and without fuel in the bowl.
I read that you can adjust the float, but how do you measure the adjustments??

I have added a second washer under the seat valve to lower it down towards the float, and was thing to add a third??

I am about to go mad!!! I have been at this for at least three days or more!!

THX for everything...

I think I may already have that D, but I am willing to try anything!

I sent AJ Sims an email today, and hopefully he will have an idea.

Burk, when you open up those 40's, let me know if you see a check ball down under the accelerator pump spay bar.

I was think about the problem. I had a similar problem. I think you might have a bad float valve. Did this problem occure after you put on the rebuild kit? If so swap your old valve back in and see if this helps your problem.
