Went with the passenger side. Not as pretty as everyone else's engine compartment but should work.

Fixed a few small issues on the 66 this morning, buttoned everything up and went for a good 30 minute drive. No oil spraying the engine compartment . The addition of the breather box may have solved a couple other issues that I was having. After getting home from the drive, I shut the engine off and then tried starting it. It fired right off, which is something it would not do previously. Did it twice w/o a problem. Also noticed that the engine seemed to be running a bit cooler. A few more test drives should confirm my findings.

I did have a minor leak on the passenger side valve cover that should be an easy fix.

Thanks for everyone's contribution to this thread  . It is great to have a resource with so many knowledgeable VW enthusiasts participating  .

Nice work! Ben, you've motivated me to get off my rear and put my breather on. I'm glad it helped you out. Hopefully after mine is done, it will solve the oil spray problem for me too.
