What is the correct valve clearance for a 1600 engine? or what is the most common valve clearance used?
If I remember correctly 0.006? Intake & exhaust......?

Just rotate the pulley to TDC an adjust only the closed rockers on each side(three on one side and one on the other) then rotate the pulley another 360 and adjust the remaining four closed rockers; bam, your free to finish your twelve pack by noon!

I learned this trick on my old 914:

put the car in 4th
jack up the side you want to work on
turn the wheel till both valves for that cylinder are all the way closed
check/adjust the gap
turn the wheel till the other cylinder's valves are all the way closed
check/adjust the gap
wash, rinse, and repeat the other side

takes about 10-15 minutes to do it :hillbilly:

Without jack and only a feeler gauge (or not-depending on what type of pushrods) a 13mm , a flat head and a 3/4 or 19mm(for after market alt nut) wrench rotate the motor to BDC open the cap on the distributor which ever it is at firing is were you start.. 2 or 4 .. pointing to 4 go to the drivers side do 4 rotate to TDC do #3 -close VC and rotate to BDC do #2 then to TDC do #1 close VC..

still only about 10 minutes tops..

Those with sidewinders and lowered rides may take experience longer than normal wait times.. :hillbilly:
