What is the general thought on this? Is it recomended to replace the head or case studs? I'm figuring all new nuts and washers, but just curious on the studs.

I would get new hardware but the head studs should be fine to reuse.

Yes and no... the stock stuff for head studs are awesome..

the washers are mega thick and the nuts usually are more than fine..

I see no problems with reusing any of it as long as things are clean and threads are
un harmed..

if you replace.. make sure to get good hardware.

Use loctite 243(blue holding power plus grease resistent), normal 242 would be okay as well!

Clean everything well is key.

Crap Tommie, your on point as usual. When I built my motor I got a type 4 hardware kit from Jake R. , apparently nobody else has a complete kit like that. I replaced all the hardware on the motor, except I reused the head studs and thick washers/nuts. Also if you want to source all your own hardware so you know your getting the quality stuff(not that chinese garbage) get it from McMaster-Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/#screws/=ed3ffa
