Hard start relays are just band aids. You should not need one. I personally would still search for the issue/problem.

If you had 12v at the start terminal the hard start relay shouldn't have helped unless you were losing voltage at the main battery terminal on the starter. I would check the connection at the battery and possibly a bad cable.

adding a relay is not fixing something it is bypassing the issue at hand. If these cars needed a hard start relay VW would have added them on every car from the factory.


If it were your own car you wouldnt have ass it either so I dont know why you are even saying that.

I have no issues with my starter, it has worked every single time for the last 11,000 miles, butttttttttt I want to add a 40a relay just so I don't have to have all that current running through my ign sw, it will add a lot of life to the sw. Them Krauts cut a huge corner by engineering the electrical like that.
