Sometime it work and sometime it doesn't work (click click). Got a new Optima battery a few weeks ago and a new starter last year(from Autozone). :help:

Check all your conections .... Clean them ... if you get a starter , get a auto tran version ...

Check the braided ground straps. There is one that attaches to the trans to the chassis.

I've had GM starters do that and what it ended up being is they were starting to go bad. An old mechanic called it a 'flat spot'. "Just keep trying to start it and it'll get past the flat spot and start. " Never had that issue with VW starters, but prob can happen to them too.

I've had the flat spot ... and would have to put the car in 2nd and rock it to get past the bad spot .... :help:

It's the theory of tapping on a starter to make it work. The brushes are probably worn and not making a good connection. I would suggest checking voltages and go from there.

Got the starter last year but never change the brushes cuz I leave the old one. :hillbilly:
