Sounds like your idle jet is clogged. Take the air filter off, start it, while reving it put the palm of your hand of the intake of the carb and seal it, release your hand when it start's to die, repeat till it idles...must have got some junk in your gas tank.

Just clean deep on carb. and it run now but not really smooth running. still need play with adj.. The 30/31 carb. is junk, I guess..

James, if you want to try another 30, let me know. I have one you can have. It needs gone through, I don't know the history of it.

Just taking apart and "cleaning" a carb doesn't mean it's clean, there is science, technique, and a bit of black magic involved in properly cleaning a carburetor. If you can't keep a 30/31 running you probably shouldn't mess with webers just yet.

I have to agree with Nick on this one... the h30/31 is about as simple as it gets, make sure you understand it, how to fix clogged jets, and the basics of jetting before you step up to a pair of webers. Each IDF weber is really two carbs that share a float and an accelerator circuit, so in a way all of a sudden you are dealing with 4 carbs instead of one. The benefit of course is way more power *potential*.

Gotta agree too. Take that bitch all the way apart and methodically lay the pieces out military style. I learned "carbs" on my old squareback. They were always acting up. Carb cleaner and compressed air is all I used. I do have a favorite screwdriver just for carbs. And if it is super clean its one less thing to worry about....

I still agree with doing the "White trash rebuild" Get it running, stick your hand on the top of the carb so it sucks it in and also sucks any junk through. You will have a big red ring on your hand, but sometimes, it really does work
