We installed a regular Empi crank pulley a few months ago, and now it started leaking oil pretty bad. It's slinging oil all over the backside of the decklid, and there's almost a puddle at the bottom of the rear engine tin. I know Brian is running an Empi press-in sand seal pulley, and that POS is leaking too. Would upgrading to a brand name pulley, like a Scat one, help?

You have your case vented right, at least through the tube off the oil filler?

maybe the seal is bad does it feel loose when you take it off and put it back on?
or could the sealing surface be worn ? I would just check that out first and if its worn return the pulley

Go with a steel degree pulley you can find them on the samba. I read somewhere cant remember where, that the ribs on the alumn. pulleys wear out fast. I just wish I had read it before I bought the new alumn. one.

Have you checked the end play?

The engine was rebuilt about a 1,000 miles ago, so I highly doubt that's the problem. Besides, it's a CPE motor  .
