 Post subject: Compression Ratio

I building a 1776 for the bus to be a driver, I want to be able to drive in the summer with out roasting it or giving up to much power need to set my deck height for the proper compression my head cc is 53. :help: you tech people.

I think most idea's in the past were always to keep CR low but a little more than the old norm has proven to be more than fine ..
middle/upper eights..

cam #'s will show where DCR is..

that CR # is just sorta what I play with.. MKZ may have a better opinion once the rest of your build is listed..

Lots of CAM choices out there .. my personal experience with 5 different heavy weighted vehicles has been CB's cheater cam and 40's has proven an awesome combo.. Stock valved heads and a small header... tons of smooth torque .. cruiser with plenty of power for hills...

I'd keep it pretty low, maybe 8:1, 8.5:1 tops.

A deck of .064" will give you 8.0:1. If you want a tight deck, .040" will give you about 8.5:1. I would err on the side of 8:1 8-)

Thanks Brian thats what I was thinking around 8.1 iam installing the pistons tonight and see where i stand but at least I have a good number to shoot for.
