No, really. Flywheel lock, scale, good inside and outside diameter micometer. 90.5 piston ring compressor. Patience. assembly lube. Engine stand and VW adapter. Tourque wrench thats been calibrated. Case splitter, oil pump remover. Dist gear setting tool maybe. The how to build video is good. the how to hot rod book is good
I had a friend in Sac that would build motors using just ordinary hand tools. It can be done, and he used to win burnout contests in Vallejo, and drive back to sac and drive it daily. I wouldnt let him build me an expensive motor but people used to do it not checking any tolerances at all, just slap things together. That would be the differance between building an engine and slapping one together, I would suppose
