Yeah, those have been around a long time, and work well. Personally, I like a gauge so I can really see what's going on, rather than just a light that goes off when there's already a problem. But if you don't have space for a gauge, or it's not in your budget, these are way better than nothing

I wouldn't run something like that on a lowered VW that will reduce ground clearance. I run a sender in the oil pressure relief plug hole, at the front (flywheel side) of the engine. I believe it's this one http://www.piersideparts.net/V323064.html Nice and out-of-the-way

Mine has always been at the crank pulley side. |

I honestly can't remember why I ran it on that end, other than maybe being more out of the way, no need for a wire strung across the bottom of the motor, or going down through the breast plate. I think it's considered the "best" location though, but I just don't remember the reason... |

Sounds good enough for me! Lol. Next time I'm doing an oil change I might swap the plugs and see if I see any difference in the readings. |
