After only a few seconds huh? Check all the things Ethan mentioned (pressure relief and control plungers and the oil inlet) and go from there. I would stick a pressure gauge in there too, it's going to be a lot easier to diagnose with more info.

Just to make sure... I'd disconnect the wire to the sender on the motor.. and touch it to the block or a ground with the key on .. motor doesn't have to be running.. just to verify the LIGHT that is coming on is indeed the light to the OIL SENDER.. as I have seen those wires crossed behind the speedo and it may be the ALT light that really is the issue..

Just a thought and a very quick and simple verification step.

If it is the oil sender and the light goes off first thing in the morning while the oil is cold and thick then comes on after the motor warms up .. then there is a few steps already mentioned to start to go through..

I quick question is when you put the oil pump in.. did it go in with out any effort? I have seen some not have the interference required and it could be sucking air and causing the starving oil issue..

Do you have a Oil filter on the motor?

lots of questions I'm sure some one has a good answer for you when all the facts are revealed ..

Replace oil pressure sender and start up fine with no light. Got 40psi when it cold. Warm it up for about 15 min and it went down to 20psi. Have not drive it yet due to bad rain.
