I had some odd issues today when driving the bug. It seemed that sometimes it would be really hard to get into gear every once in a while, and sometimes when it neutral, it would act as if it's in gear and the revs would drop and the car would want to move. Does this sound like a clutch or trans issue (I'm thinking trans).

Maybe I need to flush it and put some fresh gear lube in it?

I take it you already ruled out adjustment and coupler.

Coupler is a few months old, and I'm pretty sure adjustment is most likely good (or close enough), because it goes into gear, and it's super hard, and it grinds sometimes.

Flush and fill couldn't hurt. Is this your new trans you got from JBS? It sounds crazy, but how are your motor mounts? I had to replace mine in the front to fix my issues. It didn't want to go into gear while driving, especialy after turning. I replaced them and the problem went away. If they are new, check to make sure they are tight.

Still having this issue with the new motor :( . I talked to David Crow and he thinks that it's trying to seize, which is why it tries to creep in neutral.

Bummer nothing like taking it out three times in a row.

Play with the clutch adjustment see if it gets better or worse.

Tried driving it this morning, and it's even worse. Definitely acts like it's trying to go into two gears at once. It's really hard to get into gear, and when it's in gear with the clutch in it come to a stop when on an incline, the car comes to complete stop. :furious:

That's not good......something is binding it up. With the trans in gear and the clutch push in.....can you crank the engine over?

Yessir, but the revs drop and engine slowly wants to die. Hopefully I'm picking up a new transmission this weekend, this time one that's beefed up and should stay in there for good (key word "should").
