After fixing the steering wheel to steering box problem, I dropped the 66 off the blocks and backed it out of the garage. I went to shift it into first and had a bit of a problem getting it into gear. When I started to accelerate, a loud pitched noise came from the tranny. It sort of sounded like grinding but after a second or two, the noise disapeared and off we went. I drove it into town and just about every time I had to shift into first, it made the same noise. I wouldn't say it was like grinding into gear. It was more like a high pitched sound.

I thought maybe my shifter was off but after some adjusting today, it is still making the same noise. It is strange that it went from not making this noise before I parked it and had to fix the steering to now making this noise. I know it is not steering related but the point is that it sat for two weeks and then started making this weird noise.

Any suggestions?
