Finally got the new engine started and decided to take the car out to see how all the new parts worked....short trip around the block got even shorter. After I shifted into second and increased the revs a moment went by and then there was a loud gear grinding sound. I shifted into neutral, shut off the car and mused on the problem. Restarted and all sounded ok. Once again though, the increased revs in second gear and the gear grinding sound. I pushed the car back. Re-checked all the new wiring, all seems correct. A prime suspect is the Ignition Start Switch and old wiring bundle at the column. I didn't change these wires or switch. I have had a problem with the switch sticking in the "push-in-and-rotate" mode, but has always returned with a bit of wiggling. I'm stumped. Additional info....the tranny is a new GEX Super Diff, Freeway Flyer rebuild with new clutch and throw-out bearing. Seems to shift easily into all gears. I also have a new, USA made High Torque starter. If not wiring and not the transmission, could this be the starter's bendix just not working correctly???? I'd appreciate any and all help!
