Did you go through the whole kit to seal your tank? Just wondering; may split the cost with someone else that needs to seal theirs!!! :help:

I just sealed my tank with POR15's US Standard tank sealer. I still have to wait another day or two till I can add fuel to it, but holy crap does it look nice on the inside. Here is the steps that I used, only time will tell if I got it right.

step 1. removal of everything: cap, sender, screen filter/fitting
step 2. removal of the large rust, put a bunch of rocks in the tank and shook it around till I got tired, might want hearing protection.
step 3. cleaned it out with a straight dose of wax and grease remover, then rinsed it twice with warm water(hot water would be better)
step 4. final rinse with a 50% dilution of wax and rust remover and warm water, then rinsed it 3 times with warm water.
step 5. used a hair dryer shoved into the filler neck and dried it out good
step 6. taped off all the holes and poured a bunch of POR15 metal ready(I love that stuff) into the tank. made sure I got good coverage.
step 7. removed all tape and shoved the hair dryer back into it. got it good and dry.
step 8. taped up all the hole adn poured the sealer in(you got to mix the shit out of it), slowly slushed it all around for a good half hour, maybe even longer. I got every nook and cranny of that tank.
step 9. Let is drain for at least an hour so that it didn't pool up, thats about how long it took till it thickened up and quit dripping out the bottom.

you can't reuse the left over, which was about half the can. dryed nice and smooth and has a cool metalic look, I think mine is going to be fine. The inside of my cap was pretty rust too so i wire brushed it, metal redied it, then used a little of the left over sealer. While I was at it installed a new seal for the sender and cap. POR15 paint is resistant to every solvent on earth so I'm sure this stuff is just as good. my tank had light rusting inside it. Before I did the inside I wire brushed all the paint (mostly rust) off the outside, and I also had a bung welded on for my fuel return. Ain't nothing worst then a rusty tank.
