can you guys give me any feedback on fiberglass guards for a 56 oval day from creative or so i get the feeling not many people like them, just wondering why? i though say going 1 inch wider on the rears would help with rims ect

From what I have hear the quality of those is pretty good. To me though, the widened fenders just don't look right, they don't flow well with the body lines. Unless you are building a full on drag car, you can fit plenty wide tires under stock rear fenders. 215's or even 225's are possible with the correct offset. I'm running 205/50/16's in the rear, and could have run 215's no problem, or even 225's, but the limit was finding front and rear tires of the same make/model, so the compromise was 205's in the back.
And FYI, for a light car like a beetle, even a 195 is probably plenty of rubber on the ground for the power most people are making. But yeah, wider does look tough.
