Okay. Got a question about the rear brake lights. They were working just 2 days ago when we got the car. I had pulled some wires near the steering column, but had the wheel off and the wires are still connected to the switch.

Bulbs are okay as the flashers and tailights work. I'm trying to get the car inspected and well went there and failed today due to I had no brake lights.

What can I check other than the Bulbs? Are there any relays anywhere? I did order a brake switch that is coming in today so I guess I''ll change that and see if that might be it. Before adding a horn both brake lights worked, but tracing the aftermarket horn I can't see any issues about the brake lights.

Will see if I can get it working before the classic.

Patrick

I guess I said it above, but both lights quit working.

if its similar to a bug then I would check the brake switch and make sure you have voltage feeding one side of the switch and when the brake pedal is pushed it should have power on the other side of the switch. if it does then just follow the wire to the rear and check voltage there, if there is no power then you have a break in the wire between the switch and the rear tail lights

Do Type 3's have relays for lights?

One switch was bad and was replaced tonight. Still no lights. We must of torn the whole car apart trying to find the wire that is disconnected without any luck. Now it was working when I got the car. After I installed the horn it's not. Now I bet you it's some stupid liitle thing that I'll be beating myself over the head about later.

Okay. Here is what we found so far:
Fuse for flashers, horn, turn signals, and brake lights works since those items work except for the brake lights. Actual socket in tail lights will work with another wire hooked up to it, so it is not the socket or bulb. The next step, that we have been trying to do, is find out if there is connectivity between the fuse box and the brake switches.

I am guessing that the car is newer than a '66. Here is the wiring diagram for ya. There is a splice conection - T1 - You could have pulled one of the spade connectors loose.
