Post subject: | Brake Adjuster Question |
Working on the front brakes this AM and noticed the piece that holds the adjusters from moving is missing on both sides. Part Number 211609185A Is this just tack welded on? Is it a must have item? Brakes haven't been done in over 5 years so I'm sure they have been missing for a while. I'm thinking all it means is more frequent adjustments? |

thats the automatic adjuster for the brakes. yup more frequent brake adjustments without it. |

I do not think i would refer to that as an automatic adjuster. their is nothing automatic about it. that keeps the adjuster from backing off once the brakes are adjusted. |

it does adjust the brakes ethan. to do it, you drive it in reverse and then slam on the brakes. I never said it works all that great but thats what its intended to do |

I never said it works all that great but thats what its intended to do not on an early vw. Manual adjustment only. the tab keeps the star from backing out once you have adjusted it. To be honest with you I dont much about type 3's but I do know that there are NO beetles that come with self adjusting brakes. |

Yup, those things just keep them set once you adjust them... |

type 3 rears are identical to beetle rears just bigger and a seperate hub/drum setup. I stand corrected, its a locking tab, not a self adjuster, derr herp herp to me. |
