I have a 70' ghia with a brand new wiring harness, from karmann ghia p&r.... I have everything wired up and working but there are still a few kinks, like the battery will not stay charged.. I'm no electrician, so I just did the best I knew how. Is there anyone out there that knows what they are doing with wiring.? I know it should be simple and I'm willing to pay for the work. I just want everything to operate correctly.. If anyone is interested in helping a fellow dub'r hit me up. 214-542-0691

you can probably fix it yourself. Are you using a alternator or generator?

I would first check for a draw on the batter when nothing is on.
to easily do this just disconnect the negative side and see if you get a spark when you touch the cable to the battery, I usually drag it across and make sure its dark so you can see any slight spark. if there is a spark thats the problem
then remove one fuse at a time until the spark goes away, when the spark goes away you have found the circuit in which the load is being applied to the battery.

if it's an alternator conversion and the wiring wasn't changed properly then it won't charge...real simple fix too.

Thanks guy.. ;) It is an Alt conversion.. I did remove the external regulator, but I don't know what other wiring may need to be changed for that.. I will go home and try the neg- cable test and let you know..

you need to finish the alt conversion, blue and green wires at the voltage regulator needs to be spliced together.
