 Post subject: Brake light issues

I have brake lights when the light switch is off, but when the lights are on the brake lights don't work.. Why is this??

Are the lights when on extra bright? Maybe the wires are crossed making the dim filament light up for the brake light.

It's a 64 I have it wired as the diagram is shown that I got off the samba I'm in spring if I could meet up with someone.

Did you install a new harness? If so and you used a wiring works harness there are two wires that are different than the factory wire schematic

No I used the harness that was in it when I bought it it looks to be original well at least old.

If the car is drivable I would be willing to take a look but bringing it to my house is probably the best thing for me. I am off Louetta near kuykendahl.
