Ok, let me know if I'm forgetting anything. On the iphone so excuse grammar spelling etc

New cap new rotor. New plugs gapped .028. Wires look fine. Pulled the coil and put it in the bus, it's fine. It also checks out on the ohm meter. There is juice at the coil. And juice whie the car is turning over.

There is no spark at the coil. I hate testing coils I always shock the isht out of myself. But I held the coil wire to the dist clamp and a couple other places, no spark while Chris turned it over. It does have a compufire. My theory is that it's shorted. The coil was hanging down and on only the right bolt and possibly shorted. The bolt was found and reattached. Can that cause the coil to have no spark?

Chris is going to return the coil to Kermit and buy a new compufire, but can anyone think of anything else? That's how you rtest the coil right? It was also 5.9 ohms + to - and 8500k + to middle. And to be sure, I put it in my bus and it fired right up.

Any thoughts are apretiqted. I run points cause I wanna know what's happenin but consequently I don't know much about compufire

Thanks a lot! We actually think the damn Compu-Fire has gone out. We worked on the car all day today. Oil change, spark plugs, adjusted the valves, replaced the valve seals, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the distributor cap and rotor, and even replaced the chrome and rubber on the tail lamps (just because). Long. Exhausting. Busy day. But she should run great once we get the distributor issue fixed!

Yeah the coil is fine we put it in my bus and it fired right up. I just don't know if a bad compufire will cause the coil not to fire when trying to check the coil against the ground while cranking. And the various points I tried to cause an arc against are good too, dist clamp, fan shroud, distributor are all good grounds, so it ain't the ground strap

I would swap in some points and it will likely work.

update. New distributor and still wouldnt fire. I put my 009 in Chris's car and it fired right up. The coil shocked the crap out of me, so I think it's shorted. It works fine with points and my distributor, but it's messing with the electronic ignition somehow. Sure enough, I took his new distributor home, put it in my bus with a known good coil, and it fired right up. So, long story short, even though the coil tested fine, and runs fine with points, that coil wont work with compufire or pertronix ignitor. Hopefully, that is the last thing to the puzzle

Could be. What kind of coil is it?
