You checked to make sure the engine is grounded good right? |

Yep, with the test light, one side on the + (15) coil with the key on, just about anywhere on the motor it lights up, the carb, the intake manifold, the tin, it's all completeing the circuit |

Odd but maybe the coil just doesn't like electronic ignition. |
