Ok...I have had what I thought was a starter problem with my 56. I had the starter checked and it is supposedly good. I re-installed the starter ...same problem.....will not turn over. Had another starter that I had checked and installed and same thing. I have switched out batteries...same problem. I have removed and cleaned all ground connnections...same problem. There seems to be juice from the ignition as I am getting a noise at the starter when I turn the ignition on.

So...lets solve Old Man Pearl's 56 starting problem so I can start driving my pride & joy again.

Thanks gang!

Thanks...but the starter will not even turn over so not sure how the voltage regulator would effect that. As for the grounds, I have removed and cleaned all ground cables and surfaces. Any other suggestions?

Have you checked the voltage at the starter? Could be a bad positive cable with corrosion in the cable not allowing enough volts to the starter. Also did you check the trans to body ground strap?

I have not checked the voltage at the starter...makes sense though as it acts like a bad battery. And I know it is not the battery as I removed the battery from the 56 and it started my 66 right up.

I did remove the tranny ground strap and cleaned it  .

Thanks!

Considering your age and all I think your best bet would be for you to go ahead and give me the 56 Ill give you in exchange a real nice 65 that doesnt have wireing problems, this will save you the stress and maybe a heart attack of chasing down the wire gremlin
