I am in need of a better distributer, I do not think I am getting the full potential out of my engine. I was wondering if anybody has tried this distributer? If not any recommandations? I am running a 2110 cc with Dual Webers. Any advice/ help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I can't comment on the Magnaspark, but I'm running a Mallory with Unilite optical pickup, a Mallory Hyfire 6 digital box, and a Mallory e-Series Promaster Coil and I love it. It has enough power to arc-weld with, lol.
The new Magnasparks are fully programmable though, so that could be fun to play around with.

Thanks for the reply. This is my first larger displacement motor I have owned with dual carbs, its been kinda tricky tuning it in. It runs good, but I think it still lacks. Hence why I am thinking about updating the distributor and ignition. While on the subject could you recommend a good mechanic in the Dallas area that can lend a hand, or some cool peps. I am trying to get back into the VW seen, and hang out on a regular basis. Again, thanks for your help.

Don't expect an ignition system to make a night and day difference though, you may pick up a few ponnies, but nothing dramatic. Believe it or not the stock ignition systems are fairly capable of supporting some power. The main advantage of a big ignition system is you can open up the spark plug gap and hence expose more of the air/fuel mixture to the kernal and get a more efficient burn. Like I said though, not night and day...

If you feel your engine is not running as strong as it should I would start with the jetting. I would guess it's waaay to rich, that will most definitely make it soggy. Let me know your setup (carbs, heads, compression ratio, exhaust, displacement, cam, etc) and I'll try to give you some jetting advice.

dLk has a great chapter in Dallas, try to get to know some of those guys, they are cool mo fo's 8-)
