yea.. I liked that site myself.. great information..

I think most of those guys migrated over to Ultimateaircooled.com but even that site
doesn't get a ton of action..

I wish there were better sources for sharing information .. Samba has their core group
of say 10-20 guys who post on every thread.. but I've found to be a little lack luster in
truly helpful replies..

hard for some of us who are learning as we go -to find a true helping hand out there..

Well Tommie, maybe we can eventually grow this board and make it more of a resource. I would love to fill the Tech section with How-To's, add more product reviews, etc.

Honestly, even things as simple as a detailed "How-To" on things like setting ignition timing, adjusting valves, setting end-play, adjusting carbs... things that you and I do in our sleep, but seem daunting for the newbie. For the suspension and brakes section, how to adjust brakes, how to rebuild the rear axle seals, how to do an alignment, etc etc. What we have to remember is that things that are easy for us now took us years to learn and probably a lot of trial and error (not to mention picking the brains of some old-timers), so sharing those things can be a huge help to people, as simple as they seem to us.

I for one heart making DIY articles, but the ones I would make would be stuff that would be way over most's heads. Stuff like converting GSXR TB's to ACVW applications, swapping in K20 motors, Porsche Brembo 4 pot brake upgrades, Porsche 901 5 speed installs, megasquirt Bluetooth enabled tablet dashboard, homemade lager cup brace...awesome stuff like that. That does sound like fun to make DIY articles for some of my upcoming projects.

I say you make the LAGER cup brace thread happen.. we'll sit back and drink a pint to your wheel hop limiting thread w:pw

Although a homemade verision thread could probably help a bunch of people --

and some of us just like doing things ourselves in the garage anyways..

Well, write them up then! Even if relatively few people find them usefull, that's still a few people that got help! The VW community is fairly small, and shrinking. We all need to help one another out to keep our hobby alive.

I would love a bunch of DIY postings, even simple stuff, especially from people I trust. That's the problem I have with most other sites is I see the postings but I don't have a clue who the person is so I don't know if it's worth reading. I know I don't know most of you guys personally YET but I'd trust your postings.

The trick to a great DIY article is the way things are explained. I have tons of experience with hydraulics and electrical systems the way I have always explained it to people is in terms a five year old can understand. If you want to really teach someone never try and speak over their head. It does two things. Makes the person trying to learn feel inadequate and makes the person explaining it a complete idiot and a waste of time for both parties involved.
