I already have it set up for flux core, would you say the wire you have is a higher quality then what comes with the welder when you get it and the cheap stuff you see in the box stores or northern tool

I just noticed you are in Tomball, Where the hell is tomball

OK, I am not being pick or anything, I just don't have much experience with different wire and was hoping you might have an answer (for my own knowledge gained), I don't mind buying it from a shop and that way it is there for someone who may need it more than me, or even reimbursing you for a partial roll. one of those hangups I tried explaining before, getting help or stuff for free, even though I might be doing the same for someone else, Maybe I need to try and get over it.

oh the other thing with the car, I was looking forward to doing something more then a 40 horse but now my options are limited, If I wanted to take money out of the wife's car fund I guess I could, but I'm not gonna do that. The 40hp I have is seized up and I have not even ripped into to see what might be wrong,
should I try dumping kerosene in the plug holes, or seafoam to see if I can get it free or should I just dig in, and will it save me money by getting the 40 running or should I just look for a 1600,

all stuff I have been thinking of but money situation has changed and I am not sure what is best.

You'll have to get over it. Ive got a huge spool doubt you could make a dent in it . Your money is no good with me if you want to try it go for it i dont mind.

might as well try and get that 40 hp running you might have to take the heads and cylinders off it may just be the piston stuck to a cylinder

If your cool with it then what the hell I'll give it a try, and if my money is no good then you gotta keep me in mind if you need help or if there is something I can do for you,

and maybe if I get some time tomorrow which I doubt I can get a closer look and see what I have, It will most likely happen Monday though, is there anything I should look for when I dig into this thing that will let me know it's a waste of time, would I be hoping to re-use the piston and cylinder, if it needed an align bore (if thats the right way of saying it) should I do it and keep building.

Ive built one motor and it locked up during break in so I'm really not the man to ask. I can pretty much assemble the motor after the case has been mated but once you split it ill screw some shit up

Im back, but only while I brush my teeth. I have used a few different types of wires. I would suggest useing the .030 wire either gas or flux, and turn the heat almost all the way up if you are useing a 110V, for the pans. I would do plug welds. I have found that with the higher heat you get a good penetration on the thicker flange of the og pan(the metal where the plug weld would be welding to). Yes it will burn through the replacement pan metal pretty easy, but if you keep your weld centered, you shouldnt have too much problem with the burn through. If you are welding up sheetmetal, then the .023 or .030 will work, but you will have to play with the heat. On mine, I can only do a #3 for heat with the .030 and #4 for heat with the .023. I hope this helps you out. I want to see you workin that car.
