Hey guys,
Hope you don't mind me sharing out here, I've heard of ya'll via Tommie out here in Austin and wanted to extend the offer if you haven't seen it yet.
I am doing a buy-in for BUGPACK and have set up a website you can use to either check prices or even submit an order if you'd like. I currently have enough commitments from among the Austin Air Coolers and my own stocking order to meet my minimum to submit the order any day now, but I'd love to get a little more volume, put my name out there, and offer up the buy-in pricing to you DLK guys too.
I already did one buy-in with SCAT (which honestly didn't go so well - they hosed me on shipping, and I don't plan on keeping that line open, but I was able to get some guys some good stuff at great prices), and learned a little bit from it, so I think I've got a good system in place for this BUGPACK buy-in. Here is what I've done: I've set up a webpage at
http://www.y-n-s.com. On the webpage you'll find a link to the BUGPACK catalog (left column towards the bottom, directly above search). You can peruse the catalog to find the stuff you are interested in and search it out via the search box on the webpage. Alternately you can use generic search terms on the webpage and find the stuff. Now, I don't have pictures of all the BUGPACK stuff yet, but that is because they are sending me a CD with all the pictures in my first order. The prices that you see on the webpage are 'amazon' prices - I do have to charge tax for Texas sales, but honestly, I've always felt it backwards that buying locally is more expensive than buying from out of state, so the prices include sales tax - meaning, the price on the webpage is the price you pay. Period. I will always do my pricing this way. I still have to report sales and pay taxes to Texas (and credit card fees to Google or PayPal) but they will be transparent to you guys - you'll never see a line on my checkout for tax. There is also a coupon you can enter at checkout for 10% off on this buy-in the coupon is 'bugpack' - it is valid on purchases over $100.
Payment: I have the shopping cart set up with both PayPal and Google. So hopefully you can feel confident with full buyer's protection in place. Having said that, I am happy to accept cash payments or payment via PayPal gift transfer. You would be saivng me 3% when you do that, but it is not necessary.
Delivery: I live in Austin, and my Brother lives in Houston. I visit him often, so I can meet anywhere in either area. I will also plan on attending Dubsplash if I am able to submit the order early enough to receive the items prior to July 7th. That would mean I can deliver in person to Dubsplash on the 8th. I am also willing to ship via USPS or UPS (whichever is most cost effective) but I would have to invoice that separate. I haven't set up shipping on the webpage yet because I think one of two bad things would happen:
1. I'd overcharge and piss you off (like SCAT pissed me off)
2. I'd undercharge and my wife would kill me (like happened with SCAT)
I hope to offer more shipping options in the future, but I am not trying to make this a day job, I am just trying to get good cheap access to parts for fellow enthusiasts - shipping is something I want to handle as an exception if possible. I do want to plan on attending any VW shows where I have parts to distribute, and will definitely be at all the Austin shows(or send the parts there with a friend).
Prices: You can look them up on the webpage (organized by PN and description) or via the spreadsheet that you can get to when you open the catalog on the webpage. As I mentioned before prices are 'Amazon' style - Texans won't pay more than out-of-staters. I will try to always have a coupon up - the current coupon is 'bugpack' make sure to check that against your prices on the webpage. I checked a lot of the items and it looks like my prices beat pretty much any BUGPACK vendor I've found so far - feel free to share with friends, but realize that shipping is not included.
Shipping: I've bought a lot of hobby stuff (Jeep, VW, RC, etc) and Shipping always has to get paid somehow. I am personally not a fan of 'Free Shipping' but I also don't want to make any money shipping stuff. Having said that, I don't want to lose money on shipping either!IF I gotta ship something I promise to charge actual costs, not more or less. I'd rather meet in person and hand parts off.
Order Frequency: I do have a minimum order to get free freight. I've already met that minimum, on future orders I can have items drop shipped if you are time-sensitive, or we can wait until we've filled a minimum order for free freight. If we are close I'll order some items for stock and sell via ebay/samba or the classifieds.
Umm... I think that is it - so I'll wrap with the important stuff again.
