Lookin for some honest feedback, am I rediculously priced here? I looked around and didnt think I was, but ........ much less than what im askin and I might as well part it out j/k but seriously. This is a response I got from an older local shop owner/engine builder, w/o bein a snot I will leave his name out of this post.
A visitor to TheSamba.com has replied to your ad for:1970 standard Price: $3000at: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=............and sent the following message:*********************************************Contact:.......................................... I am having trouble understanding what you have for sale. The car will not start up and run ? Is that what you claim ? So, I cannot drive it ? Is this correct ? I would have no idea about the engine condition or transmission condition without being able to test drive the car . What is the 1776 number you mention in the ad ? What is the condition of the floor pan and door jams ? Does the doors drag or drop down, when you open and close the doors ? Was the front fixed or is there still damage under the front hood ? Maybe, the fenders and hood are covering up the front end damage ? I really need more to understand your price, on a non-running bug. Somewhat interested but looks like it has been sitting up much too long. Thank you for more information. I only live 70 miles away from you.*********************************************This email was sent from the logged in user: Their Samba profile can be seen at:http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile......................

I wouldnt worry about wack jobs like that. I get the same type of people contacting me when I have a car for sale. I just ignore them

The person asking is not wrong in what he is saying. How can a person know an engine or trans is good without driving the car?
As far as price, I think what these damn cars cost is way too much anyway. I am stuck in the 90's when you could buy a driver for 300 bucks.

It's really hard to sell a car that isn't running for more than a grand. I wouldn't do anything more than make it a drivable car or you risk losing more money on the deal.

Got her started, getting her to stay runnin is another story, gonna take a bit to work through the carb gunk. Next will be bleeding brakes, trying to get her to be a parking lot driver.
