I keep finding "car dealers" or self proclaimed "car dealers" selling cars on craigslist as regular non-dealer owners.
The latest one is in Spring, Tx and is trying to sell a Taurus.

Seems shady at best; I wonder if it is legal? :bs:

They usually seem to be asking prices that are too high to begin with.

More fun (but not from a shady dealer- maybe a shady seller though.)

I saw a pic of a decent looking (outside) Taurus (well, for what it is) for $1000 or offer. I sent a msg then noticed it had
over 311k miles. It turned out not to be a typo for 131k; the engine moved 6 inches when the gears were changed.

The L side shock mount was loose and had made a bump in the front hood and had broken the hood hinge. It made lots of noises when it was driven too. I'm glad it was only 8 miles away so I only wasted about $7.00 worth of gas at 8 mpg.
:furious:
I saw a few VWs for sale too, but nothing I wanted too badly.

Mike

How the hell are you Mike! I bet there are a lot of dealers that do that.

Not too bad Ethan. Tho' I have missed a LOT of VW events lately. F'burg and the Monument among others... I need to put them on a Calendar I guess.

I have found several "dealers" by searching their phone number after 16 cars pop up for sale on other sites.

I am trying to replace my dying Taurus with something. I have 1 other decent driver but it is only
getting 8-10 mpg for some reason. fuel leak? or really very bad adjusted. :help:
Maybe I'll show up with it somewhere . I've taken it to Pearland several times.

Be very careful with craigslist. I see people scammed, cheated or stole from everyday. Craigslist is bad news right now.

I believe it! And I know you aren't **just** talking about the prices they are asking either!!

There are 2 ads for the same 2000 Taurus in Kingwood. 2 different prices and 2 different phone numbers.

That is at least very suspicious....

I may need a police escort if I go to some of these ad locations :(
Or a couple of armed VW mafia...

I was thinking of meeting up at a 24 hr police substation to make a deal also.
