 Post subject: wiper switch knob removal

is there something special to removing the wiper knob. I have twisted, pushed here and there, pulled. don't want to break it. all other came off pretty simpy.

When you pull the switch out does it have a (don't know what it is called) thing like the gold in this pic. ?
If so unscrew it ... using needle nose pliers

Looks like a normal twist off type, pull the knob out so I can see how it's attached to the dash.

well guys, I twisted about as hard as I could and the knob did not move. may have to break the knob off. the problem is that then I have to replace the switch and the PO covered the switch and wires in red paint so all six wires are all red.

any last minute ideas before I break it off.
