this is the best looking one, sorry I just sold my last NOS one a couple months ago. Just a hole in the filler neck you can use this or the ghia tube type, but they require a big hole cut into the tank http://www.evwparts.com/vwparts/113919049D.html |

about the link you posted Eric. If you use that one you will have to modify it to work with the hump tank. It will not read accurately right out of the box. |

yep. it doesnt go low enough out of the box. The other trick is where you put it. Does the Ghia one work correctly out of the box? |

I am use to 68 bug with gas guage. The 59 don't have and was not sure if I need it. I look up the samba and it's not help much. Not sure if I want to mess with the tank. |

U won't need the guage. You have a reserve once you feel the car running out of gas turn the switch and you can go another 20-30 miles at least. |

That's whats so good about the early tanks. Simply open the cap and look inside. My car actually has a measuring stick inside the trunk for checking at night. Anytime I cruise my bug any distance such as Dallas or Austin I just make sure to stop about halfway or every bucces and top off. |
