Just registered....been lurking for a while. I'm building a street custom 71 Beetle. Bought a fairly rust-free Texas car in Abilene. Went for a post 68-1/2 for the built-in IRS. I pulled the body and reworked the pan. All metal down to bare. New battery area metal. New adjustable front end w/ 2-1/2" dropped spindles. IRS dropped 1-1/2". All bushings are Urethane. Disc brakes all around. 3/4" sway bars F & R. Pan complete POR-15, gloss black. Rebuilt GEX Super-Diff, Freeway Flyer Trans. 1915 cc JCS engine with dual EMPI, HPMX 40mm carbs, Compufire Ignition, 55 amp alternator and deep sump. Powerhaus A1 Sidewinder ceramic coated exhaust system. 195-15/55 Yokahamas on chrome 8-spoke EMPIs. And some other stuff....

Basic body is stock. Fenders have been replaced with Creative Car Craft glass, early model to be rid of the large, late model turn signals. Is now out for paint. BTW, color is Bahama Blue. Will have all stock chrome. Body was soda blasted (really nice technique). All under and interior areas not showing blue paint are POR-15.

Seats & Door panels will be Beige low-back Scat Pro-90s with Oatmeal carpet. Two front seats only. Rear is stripped, carpeted with speakers and a built-in storage box. Metal Instrument panel with 6-guage cluster and ivory knobs....

Really anxious to get the body back on and start the completion phase.....that leads to driving.....that leads to showing up at VW events!!!

See you soon,
Pics as soon as I figure out how to post.....
