My name is Charles, and I met Mrs. Carpenter (sp?) at Tomball night. I came to the site, and read the back story, and I am really interested in the club.

I have been into VW's since my teens. I remember getting stung by wasps that lived in a VW on our property when I was about 16.

I'm not sure why almost every abandoned VW I've touched had roaches (not the insect variety) in the ash tray and wasps under the decklid, but I have to admit I'm almost batting a 1000 on this one.

I remember becoming intrigued when my uncle had a flat window Super Beetle break and he parked it in our yard. I also remember him coming back months later with a single piston and cylinder, pulling the engine, replacing one piston / cylinder, replacing the engine, and driving off all in a 2 day period. He worked pretty leisurely I might add. This was about the time I was putting a 2nd axle in my CJ5 jeep despite me not going off-road even once in it. Within a few weeks, I found a '72 beetle parked under a carport in really good shape, and decided to get into something I could learn to fix myself... Oh what did I start...

I would really like to be in a club where I can help share some of my knowledge I've collected working on the 20+ VW's I've owned, and hopefully learn some more too. Mainly, I like sharing work on other people's projects and mine, because it helps keep me motivated. If I don't stay motivated, the projects seem to drag on forever.

Also, my wife and I used to be very active into the VW scene in Louisiana, which we are both originally from, but unfortunately a spike of drama really killed our spirits, and we stayed to ourselves for the last decade or so. I miss some of the great people I met over the years.

So if you guys are low drama, enjoy hanging out, working on cars, and family orientated, then let me know where to sign up.

I'm in Lakewood Forest, off of Avenfield. So essentially Spring Cypress West of 249.

I hope that statement didn't come across wrong, and I'm sure I wasn't 100% innocent back then, but feel free to call me out if I start some, haha
