My other addiction is Fast Chevys.I had a 55 in High School. I parked it and bought my first Nova SS 396. It was black on black, bench ,4 speed.396,350hp.posi.I only kept it about a year and a half. (too many speeding tickets} . I`ve had 5 novas since High school. The one I have now was bought by my best friend about the same time I ordered mine. Almost the same car except the color. I`ve owned this car since 1980. I only bought the body, trans, rolling shell. I put my own engine in it. It`s a L-88, 427. Some of you might know what that is. It was a limited edition Chevy put in Corvettes a couple of years.in the late 60`s.It was a dailt driver when I put it together, and I drag raced it some. Temple,Seven Points and Green Valley. It got put on the back burner to Life,Family and building Vw`s.I have started working on it in the last month or so. All new brakes, clean fuel tank, oil change, tune, etc. I`ve been driving it again and it`s a lot of fun.It still has 90% original paint. Haven`t decided yet to paint/restore. They say it`s only original once.I plan on doing some changes to the drive train. Needs more gear.I run through the quarter in third gear.and it has a 4:10 rear end. probably going to switch to a 5 speed. It sill runs 12.06.My plan is to get to low.low 11s or hopefully a high 10.s. I still like my V-dubs, but I don`t think I could ever have one as fast as my Nova. probably would cost 4 times as much .If any of you ever get to Corsicana look me up and we will go for a ride.

Another friend had a 65 GOAT ... I think 389 three dueces. small cam , Big Micky Thomsons on the back , lifted 3 inch in front, but stock rear gears . One day he reved it up and dropped the clutch busted the rear end .. pinion blew out the back. Funny I had to tow it to his house with my 69 vw...

1955 I was one years old.
