...I am and I've started a new side project, a friggin backyard metal foundry

I don't know if it's a blessing or curse my I can see the future and the future is the GSXR TB's on performance VW's. I've figured them out and know exactly what I need to change to those sweet manifolds that Eric made for me. Instead of modifying IDF mani's and compromising things I want to start from scratch. Since nobody in the whole world makes them, and I don't want to pay $10,000 to have custom ones cast by a company specializing in that (ok, they probably aren't that expensive). So I'm being creative and going to build this rig on the cheap, yay me!

Anyways I have been researching like crazy and I think I got a good understanding what's involved. There is fire, molten metal, and possibility of an explosion...sounds like a good time!

I still need to drill a ish load of air holes into that pipe, I got a hair dryer that I will use as a blower.

My mom is going to be pissed, I'm using one of her best flower pots, hehe.

I am going to make a outer skin out of sheet metal, and fill the air gap with cement for an insulator. I am going to make a lid for it out cement too. This going to be fun!

casting is fun, I remember doing a screwdriver handle in shop class at school, we used aluminum coke tabs.
I think it took 200 to make a screwdriver handle.

Have you signed up for the metals class/labs at Sam? It was the best classes that I took. There is a foundry there. If you get in good with the prof., you should be able to use the facilities; just pay/bring your own material.

This my last semester at Sam. I like the challenge of trying to figure something new out, makes things a little more interesting.
