Spent my Friday night finishing up the garage and loaded the bug up on the dollies. It's nice to be able to push the bug around when I'm working on it, then back in place when finished. Baby steps.... :)

Goal for this weekend is to replace the throttle cable. I went to harbor freight and picked up a creeper, then had to go back when my jack died. I purchased one of those low profile, long 2-ton jacks. When I used Eliot's a few years back, I knew that when I finally had to break down and buy one, it would be one similar. I'm tired of fighting with the short jacks to get them in position, plus the fact that I have to take the front wheels off the jack because it was too tall. Hopefully, this sucker lasts for a while! :)

So I noticed last night that my accelerator cable is just flapping in the breeze from the chassis to the shroud. I thought maybe I was missing an accelerator guide tube from chassis to engine and was wondering if I should correct that first? I almost ordered one from jbugs, but then noticed that the tube they sell isn't for my year.

After further research on thesamba, I came across a couple threads regarding this issue. From what I've read, I'm guessing this wasn't an option until somewhere around '66 or '68? Anyway, I've read that some guys are using gas line or shortening a bowden tube and putting it in place.

I'm curious to hear what you guys have to say on the subject. I stopped my progress on changing out the cable to see what you all have to say. I didn't want to grease up the cable, run it through, then have an exposed greasy cable just collecting dust and sh1t out in the open blah blah blah. Furthermore, I see that the exposed cable just grinds on the tranny causing a possible wear spot with future issues. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks all!!

While I'm waiting to figure out what I'm doing with the throttle cable, I thought I'd fix my clutch cable adjustment nut issue. I purchased a six shooter from Airkewld a few years back and am now finally putting it on. It was a PITA for a minute getting those nuts off and starting the six shooter, but once I was able to get the threads to catch, it went smooth. This thing sure will make clutch adjustments EASY. Little never seize and she's good to go....

I use the tube they sell for the latter cars, works fine. Its flex tubing that is easy to shorten if need be.
