To be honest, I have had a car painted several times in the DFW area. The first shop was a bunch of thieves, to say the least. The second shop did the best he could for not being a VW guy. Now the second VW he is doing is looking a lot better.
It boils down to 2 things when it comes to body work and paint.
1.) What is your budget? A daily, a show car or whatever…. this is the most important because no one does anything for free.
2.) What are your true expectations? You can't ask a shop to do something cheap and expect a show car paint job. There is going to be a give and take if want a cheaper paint job. If you say you want the bells and whistle, and pay that price then you have room to complain.
I don't know your budget and don't know how much body work is involved and paint choice matters. Don't ever paint a car with a candy, trust me on this. Besides, Candy and Dug aren't cool either but that's a different story. Sorry, off subject…
Figure out what you want, the guy that painted my car the second time did a good job. Figure out what you want and your budget and go from there. I know my next car will be sent to Houston. Jason and Jeremy do great work on VWs, I'd rather spend the money and send it to Houston.
Just my .02 if it's worth anything. Best of luck on your project. Post pictures so we can see what you have, we love build threads around here. A link to FB works too.
