Hi guys. I met many of you this last weekend at Harvest but thought I'd throw out an intro and some background. My name is Troy Wheeler I'm forty something and work in education policy and technology here in Austin. I've been looking for some VW folks that share a similar passion style and love of road tripping bad ass big motored VW's at modern speeds. To quote Sammy Hagar, "I can't drive 55" we don't have to go 105 MPH like ScottyG but a nice cool 75ish suits my taste.

I moved to Texas last winter from Idaho. I've got a long history of building VW's and while I've never been a prof VW mechanic, I can hold my own technically. I find the friendships you make caravaning together are second to none and hope to get that opportunity with many of you.

Thought I'd share a couple of the cars I've built over the years too.

Early seamed gate Double Cab (my favorite car I've every built except the BD)

Zwitter mocked up to be a dumped KDF Afrika Korps car

My current ride is a bus I've owned and been collecting parts for the last 15 years, a 52 standard micro bus.

I describe it as "just the right amount of done"

Anyway I'd like to be looped in if you guys are planning activities, need a hand working on something or are planning a trip to a show. PM and I'll give you my cell number for easier communication.

Welcome to the board. Nice builds. I looked at the barn door last weekend and love it. Great job.

Welcome, just like others I too noticed your Barn Door at the Harvest. Now I am not sure why anyone even likes those models they look like a big bread box on wheels. In fact I am sure you are VERY ashamed of even being seen in a bus that old. I tell you what I am in a super good mood right now, and if you feel up to it, I dont mind driving up to Austin and towing that OLD bus away for you. I am sure its an eyesore in your garage and probably takes up way to much space. I figure whats a little road trip to help a friend out

Welcome to the board!
