Would be happy with 40hp :-)

Do I need to lap these valves?

Only if there's not a proper valve job on them already. There's should be.

I took my WW Okrasa heads apart, did a 3-angle valve job and ported/polished the exhaust ports. The intake ports only needed minor clean up.

With your cam, I would flycut the chambers about 2mm. Need more compression

Those heads don't come with a proper valve job?
For the price...

Ditto on the CR, bump it up for sure!

You guys have me thinking crazy thoughts about building a "monster" 36 horse, lol. I can't ever really use 230+ hp anyway, lol.

Or maybe a 912 motor. Hmmmmm...

The heads can be used out of the box...but can be made better, especially when trying to squeeze power out of a 36hp, every detail helps.

The exhaust ports on the WW Okrasa heads have a minor defect where the port is slightly offset, but the plus side is there is plenty of casting meat to correct it. Place your exhaust gasket on the head...I bet you'll see where the port is not centered on the gasket. This is why I decided to port/polish them and port match them to the exhaust system.

That cam really needs an 8:1 CR, so you need to set a tight .040 deck and reduce your chamber volume. With the WW Okrasa carbs, you may be able to get away with it, but you need the additional velocity/vacuum when running dual 2bbls

Just my suggestions from lessons learned.

You could always shoot for this beast...172HP - 36hp base:

You should not port match your exhaust ports to the header. There should be a step going from the port out into the header. Helps maintain port velocity and reduces reversion/increase scavenging.

What size is that 36 horse-based engine, those are impressive numbers! :-)
