I bought it about 3 years ago. The guy and his wife, who I bought it from, thought it looked like a cool "Nomad" and had no idea about VW's and their culture.

I totally love your car D-man, it just looks right, the stance, the colors, everything!
That motor was disgusting! Did you rebuild it or just chase the rats away and clean it up?

The motor was cleaned up & reinstalled. It was then realized that I needed to rering the pistons, then reinstalled. Then it was realized that the jugs were to far worn, pulled it back out.... installed 88mm slip ins and havn't looked back. I havn't done any head work or even split the case. And yes the motor was WAY NASTY! I used 6 cans of comercial strength oven cleaner to clean it up. The carbs have been rebuilt and rebushed, i wish I didn't do it to tell ya the truth. I only did it for cosmetic reasons and now they suck vacume at all the possible points. I need new carbs. I then replaced all the ignition parts with new Bosch and installed a new 050 SVDA Distributor. The Distributor would work better if the carbs produced more vacume. Basically its timing like a Uh oh nine.
