In case you are wondering what the other three holes in my hood are from
this is my 61 when I first got it

The VW emblem area should be flat like this

and depending on what month should have the four tabs, or the special 3 tab 2 piece emblem

Going to be taking the engine out before shipping the car off to the body shop. Any suggestions as to method. I've heard basically unhook everything as far as wiring, fuel, and cables. Place a foor jack under the sump (with a piece of wood), support the engine, remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, remove the rear engine tin, pull the engine to the rear (clearing the input shaft) and slowly lowering.

Now jacking up the back end of the car to clear the motor - where do you jack and where do you put the stands????

Not sure how to prep for shipping, but lift the car from the jack points. they are just in front of the rear wheels on both sides. They look like square tubing, sort of. jack from there. You can put the jack stand under the torsion tube (goes across car in front of the rear tires.)

I put my jacks on the torsion housing, and I jack it up at the base of the spring plates. Also I always jack the car up before I remove the motor. also there are 4 nuts that have to be removed to unhook the motor from the tranny.
not sure if this pic will help.
