No thanks on the acid etch.

I'm gonna experiment on my old one, and I'll post up on how it turns out.

For now, I'm gonna roll it shiny. 8-)

I tried scotchbrite on the old muffler, which is also stainless, and that is gonna be a lot of elbow grease. The scotchbrite doesn't seem to "grab" the surface like it does on steel, aluminum, brass, etc. I might try some sandpaper.

Maybe bead or glass blasting?

Not really a big deal but I would like to knock down some of that shine.

yeah scotchbrite wont work, but if you use some 400 it should knock the shine right off.

Awesome! I like the flanged J-tube versus the slip-in ones a whole lot better. Was this standard or did you request it?

What are you doing with your old setup?

Not me. They look cool but the last one I had was a major PITA on the install. It seemed like it was a 1/4 off and I felt like I was bending things getting it on.

Ya but how often do you need to install it, I like to roll low and the stock donut gaskets magically become exhaust leaks because of my awesome driving :oops:. When I upgraded to a type 4 I also upgraded to exhaust flanges by default :dance:

The flanges were an option. So was the v-band on the muffler, which is really nice.

I'm gonna hoard the old setup, and use it on my next VeeDub project.... there's an Oval waiting for some love in the back corner of my shop.

Hey E;
This A-1 stuff is pretty well made -- the j-tube flanges lined up nice.
