Good job cleaning.

I am sure the factory finish is no longer there if you were able to get it that clean. A coating of some type will be necessary to keep it from oxidizing.

You think a couple coats of clear would do the trick? I was gonna mask all the ribs off and paint the rest gloss black. I guess I will leave it raw.

If you want to paint it then do it, its your car. If it will cause to much heat build up then why do most of the companies that do this for a living paint theirs? Isnt yours black Ethan?

Paint it! It will look nice and add detail to your car. There can't be that much additional heat generated.

I dont think I said anything about heat build up. Just that I like the look of an unpainted tranny. and that they came unpainted from the factory and would be correct if you were doing a stock rebuild. yes my tranny is black it was built by rancho I think most built tranny's come black unless you specify you want something different.

edit I see I went X2 on Guy's quote I was meaning X2 about liking them unpainted. I just saw that he said it would run cooler as well in that quote.

how many people will actually see the painted\unpainted transaxle anyway?
I painted mine because I had the paint and I know its there and painted.
