You bug guys have it easier than us Ghia guys, when it comes to sheet metal. Not too many suppliers of Ghia/Thing pans. They are from Denmark, though.

I have never seen the the front chassis support included with pan halves. :|

Me either. If you want, give me some measurements off your pan for the napoliean hat looking deal on the front and I will check it with my bug one. If they are the same(and I am pretty sure they are), you can order a replacment one from MidAmerica. I tried to find it for you on the website, but couldnt. They are in the catalog for about $25.(pm me and I can get the catalog number for you) That is if you want to go through and replace the whole thing in case there is more cancer under there.

Second opt is to just do a patch panel. I dont think that it needs to be 100% on the thickness since it will be boxed anyways. If you have a good chunk of pan, that should be good enough IMO. Either route you go keep up the good work

Hey I looked up in the most recent Mid Amerca catolog. Page 44 has a Chassis Support Panel but it says it is for a 50 -77 beetle... wonder if it is close enough... price 29.99

Thanks Wayne.

I saw that too, but the Ghia pan is supposed to be 7" wider than the beetle chassis, so it may be shorter than what I needed.

KGPR does have the repro piece I need and it costs about 30 bucks.

I am still in limbo about just patching or replacing it. If I patch, there will be more work involved but it si still OG.

I plan to weld in the pans tomorrow with the help of Boom (Doug) and RyanW. Hopefully we will be able to knock out the pans and get to patch the chassis support cancer. All are welcome if you wanna join us!

Chris, if you need some metal sheared and bent to patch any area on the pan support let me know. I'll be at my shop in the afternoon. Good luck
BTW I'm going to pick up a 67 giha this morning for my wife, that is if it's worth the money. Might be a Giha owner real soon!

You getting the one in the Astrodome area that is on Craigslist?

If it is, make sure it is complete! A lot of one year only stuff...

Good Luck!

Thanks for the offer! I will definitely let you know!
