What grit do you start with to cut down the filler? 80?

We used 80 on a DA sander to knock it down, then 80 on the block, finishing in 180. Some 40 grit works good to knock it down too, just make sure to get all the 40 grit scratches sanded out.

On smaller parts where it's hard to use a DA I rough it in with 40 just at the moment the filler is dry enough to sand. If you catch it at this time you have a short window when it's really easy to sand.
