Billy, that was your car, right? You did a great job! Those shiny black tins are great!

I did scroll through that thread and saw some of the interior. So I have a couple of questions. I have a fresh-air box under the hood and the vents on the dash just behind the windshield. Did your car have those? If so, what did you do with them? Did you install a dash pad? It does not look like you did, and I do not want one either.

And the front seats are low backs. Are they from an older car, and if so what year? Or did you have them modified to be lowbacks?

Another question, what color was your interior? Cream or tan or saddle? It looks awesome!

Thanks!

I am leaving the dash pad off as well. Going to fill the bolt and screw holes that hold it on. I am also deleting the fresh air vents (car will not be a daily driver), but leaving the airbox in the trunk only for water drainage if it rains or when I wash it. Looks like a solid project you have there!

Clay, you have the light blue 1969, right? I do like your car.

How are you going to fill in those holes? I think I may want to leave them, as I plan to drive mine often. Just trying to weigh options.

I did not fill the dash holes. I wanted a new dash pad but never broke down and spent the money. Remember the knobs are diff and without the dash pad I think they look a little off. I searched all over and found a realy clean vent thingy for under the hood so the water could flow out without getting under the hood wet. Without it water realy gets under the hood. The seats are early seats I just don't care for the high back seats.

Dylan take some pics and post them. Id like to see it again.

Yes Dylan,

Please post some pics! I would love to see the full dash and then a pic of the seats. Heck, I might just need to meet you guys over in Spring and grab a burger and look at your cars!

Well, I made good use of the day off yesterday. I took everything out of the dash and bagged it up. I also removed the hood.

Which leads me to some questions:
    1. How do I remove the brake fluid reservoir and not make a huge mess?
    2. To the left of the ashtray, there is a hole. before it has only been covered with tape. What should go there?
    3. Should I save the translucent blocks that some wires are bridged with? Or does a new wiring harness come with those?
    4. How do you pop out the fuse block?

You can get a turkey baster from wally world for cheap (it's not a good idea to use your wife's :nono: ), and just suck all the fluid out of the reservoir.

I would hang on to everything, if you don't end up need the VW junction blocks somebody else could probably use them.

Yea a suction deal.. or just a bottle at the master cylinder pull a hose and let it drain..

Nick.. is right always keep everything until the end.. you never know what you may need..
ona side note.. some of the newer wire kits come with cheesy connectors and the stock stuff is
far cooler IMO.. I use an ultrasonic with some simple green and water.. drop all the connectors in there for about an hour.. they come out real clean!
