Looking good.

I ain't no damn FOG but I got front shocks. Wayne, I had GR2's on their for about 1 week then took them off and put monroe's on there. They were so stiff it felt like I was getting kicked in the junk every time I hit a bump, now it's nice and smooth.

My junk is so old I might not notice... I may change later , this is what was on the car.

I did nothing but drop spindles and my steering was HORRIBLE! Threw the caster all off. Steering wheel did not want to return to center without being forced and hitting a bump caused it to dart random directions. I bought some caster shims, but decided to start the teardown before I installed them.

Flipping the tie rods should be all you need to fix the bump steer. As far as caster goes, if you drop the rear almost as much as the front then the caster won't be too bad, it's when you have a big rake you screw the caster to hell

A few things..
first off clay when you do just drop spindles on a Ball Joint.. you have to reset everyting back up..
toe in/out and caster.. so to say it was the drop spindles that caused anything is probably not correct..it was
not putting thing right when the swap was done..

AS for wayne..
I am not a fan of GR2s myself.. although I have them now.. but I only have drop spindles not a lowered beam
when you lower the car with the beam the travel area moves with shocks so there is a better choice out there for sure.. Heck I know Jamracing ended up with shocks off a mustang to get a smooth caddylike ride.

also the way you pan sits now will change with the body and motor and everything on it.. so I'd really think about
addressing that once everything is done..

third..
Nick..

If your suggesting flip tie rods to Clay with only drop spindles then that is not too correct as his tie rods are in a basically stock position
-- doing so for wayne.. well depends on how far his drop is and the angle of the tie rod once all the weight is on the car.. but YES flipping them is a perfect idea for any of these slammed rides indeed!

I have read that the oil filled shocks are the better choice over the gas filled shocks, for better ride quality...

As far as tie rods, (I am not sure if I have any... my ride is too low to see 'em :P) wouldn't know if they should be flipped...

Thanks Tommie ... With the drop spindles and the adjustable beam ... I only plan for the fender to be right at the top of the tire ... So I should be ok after the car is altogether and fully weighted and all. Glen on the Samba I think uses Volvo shocks that are a little shorter. I do have some shocks that I got from Brad that are EMPI and are shorter... I need to look them up and see the specs ..

I'll have to wait and see.
