Potential buyer means potential flake....I might throw it on CR to see what the response is. The market is so shitty right now I doubt it will sell. Time will tell.....

yea its a bad time to try and sell anything without losing money.\
with Summer just about over I would hold off and wait til just before the weather gets nice and sell it then.
people always pay more for something when they impulse buy, I think boat sales double because of that

So now that you are keeping it a while why not bring it to the Round Up in Boerne? Lots of buggy folks all of which are class acts. Drive it in the parade on Saturday morning and show it in the afternoon.

Well as most ( if not everyone ) knows, Dylan and I did a swap of vehicles. The first problem that I addressed on the buggy was the lack of charging. As Dylan stated the wiring is a spaghetti mess. On top of it all, the wiring was done, and then it was bedlined. Needless to say most wires are black and covered in that stuff. There was a lack of idiot lights so I wired those in, and while the Alternator was putting out, it wasn't getting back to the battery. A little help from Boom, and it was realized the alt wasn't getting a good ground to the block. Quick fix was to run a wire from the strap to the stand and it worked. Took it out last Sunday, put about 50 or so miles on it, and the motor locked up. We tore into the motor Thursday evening. Whomever built the motor in the past, decided there was a need to seal it with silicone. Lots of it. As a matter of fact, one of the case bolts was covered completely in it. Upon pulling the oil pump cover, we found a chunk of silicone in the oil pump, and the oil return grove was completely filled with it. The number three rod was welded to the crank due to lack of oiling.

You can see the globs of silicone on the case studs in the above pics for an idea of how much was used.
So onto the next motor. In one of Dylans trades he ended up with a relatively complete '67 H code 1500sp. Been sitting for 20+ years. Was however exposed to the elements. Upon removing the manifold, we noticed water in the heads. The motor is getting a set of dual port heads so no worries. Here are some pics of the insides.

Hopefully the lower end is in good shape as there was plenty of oil in the case. New pistons and cylinders and hopefully will have a decent running little motor.

I was waiting for the swamp thing come crawling out of that cylinder  . My type 4 motor was exposed to the elements too and all the damage was to one cylinder and the rings, the crank polished up like new.

Will do. I need to get some more pics of the case. It is super dry. Looks low mileage.

Nick
You and me both :D Luckily that was the only cylinder that had water in it. The plan is to not split the case. Once we get the cylinders off, we are gonna flush the oil passages and try to remove any residual gunk and go from there.
