I read somewhere that a guy used rolled roofing material and turned it around and layered it. Just a thought.

I have done that for the floorboards in my car. Just doubled up roofing paper and it works...

i guess you could use that in the floor boards but everytime it gets to a hundred degrees its going to get mighty stinky in your car....i read about using tar paper and even the cheap dino mat stuff that is made of tar paper....a downfall to it was that in our 100 plus days it gets sticky and stinks something awfull

....aaand I'm finished! did some tweakin and tuning this morning. Fired it up and saw the leaky V/C......damn. Went to Kaferhaus and bought a brand new stainless steel set. Got em on and NO LEAKS!.....so far. Everything I replaced seems to be tight and dry. Took it for a spin and all is well. It was soooo nice driving her after more than a month apart.

i have a problem with one of my valve covers leaking a little..i use permatex and run a bead on the gasket to the valve cover then the valve cover to the head...just at the bottom and up the sides a little not all the way around...a little bit more difficult to get off but no leaks..

I feel that Stock Valve covers are the best.. Permetex on the cover -let it set a bit - then add gasket-- NOTHING on the head-- install and move on .. I think bail tension needs to be considered also..

I had run the same gasket for about 2 years and 9+/- valve adjusting.. never a leak..

ive never tried the permatex only on one side....i figure since im putting it on might as well put it on both sides....next time i think ill try just one side..and yes i run stock vented covers....stock is the way to go...the alluminum ones i have no matter how much permatex you use they leak..

Found a few oil dribbles last night at the hooters cruise in. Got some expert advice from Eric and Dave(veedubcrazy), and the consensus was distributor seal and oil pressure sender. Got the seal replaced on the dist. I had replaced it not too long ago but I unknowingly damaged it when I put it in dry. This time it went in easier when I ran some oil around it before going in. Thanks Eric and Dave for the help.
